Hemp-Lime Retrofit Guild — City of Kingston, New York Where the Work Began. Where It Scales.
In 2019 our team collaborated with the Kingston Building Department and completed the first hemp-lime residential retrofit in New York State. That project became the foundation for everything that followed — including hemp-lime's inclusion in the 2024 International Residential Code. Kingston is now the first municipality on the platform, the operational home of the Ulster County guild, and the starting point for a statewide network.

The person who leads Kingston is also the Ulster County leader and the New York State representative. The work starts here — and scales outward from here.

If you are new here, start with the Ulster County page for the full overview. See the table below. Scroll past the table for more details.

Each Municipal Executive Seat — $75/mo.

$75/mo. · 2-year founding term · Money-back guarantee
For less than a daily coffee, the Municipal Executive seat gives you a platform, a team structure, a project kit, and a revenue model — all on day one.
As Executive you can:
  • Earn 10% of all Executive seat license fees collected in your municipality for the first 365 days — as your team grows, so does your income
  • Generate advertising revenue from local sponsors — lenders, contractors, specialty suppliers — who value targeted community placement
  • Negotiate directly with elected local leaders where there is an opportunity to share in existing revenue streams
  • Issue Public Benefit Contracts for any specific opportunity — defining all terms, equity positions, and cash flow arrangements. What you build here earns income for the duration of your agreement
  • Organize work groups by ward, neighborhood, or topic — fire safety, insulation, financing, hospitality, outreach
  • Hire Project Managers who deliver milestone and status reports across every active project
The seat license includes a required donation to a local nonprofit and a workforce development commitment. See the Voices for Progress membership page for full details.

The Deeper Purpose — Productivity Captured Locally
The true engine of wealth accumulation is productivity. If a community can do what it has always done — but better, faster, with less effort, more safely, and with less impact on the environment — then it is reclaiming something that has always belonged to it: time, energy, and the capacity to pursue what matters.

That is the original promise. The pursuit of happiness is not abstract. It is what becomes possible when people are not trapped paying for preventable energy waste, preventable illness, and preventable economic extraction.

We are building a system where everyone has enough — even as some have more than enough — while creating structural resistance to extraction by those who never have enough. That is not idealism. It is a practical design for a local economy that works for the people who live in it.

Hemp-lime is the starting point because it is tangible, proven, financeable, and deployable now. The platform, the contracts, the guild structure, and the productivity tools work for any community initiative that follows.

Join the Kingston Team
The founding Executive seat for the City of Kingston carries a 2-year term. After that term, the local community elects the next leader through a process built into the platform. Follow this team on social media and on VFP to track important best practice updates shared with communities.

The Scale of the Local Opportunity
Ulster County alone has the capacity to insulate more than 1,000 homes per year for the next seven years — consistent work for installers, suppliers, lenders, and trainers. Most of that work happens at the neighborhood level. Kingston's ward structure makes it a natural fit for organizing local teams by geography, delivering targeted services that match each community's character and needs.

As progress is made in Kingston, the Municipal Lead activates the county level — recruiting Executive Leaders for each of Ulster's other 22 municipalities. Each new municipal leader replicates the Kingston model in their own community. The county grows in parallel, not in sequence.

At that scale the economic impact is not a one-time event. It is a compounding local asset.

What membership gives you access to
As a Kingston guild member you can arrange to bring clients to the retrofit house for tours and overnight experiences — a direct way to demonstrate what hemp-lime construction looks and feels like. Our team has the equipment and training to teach the skills needed to replicate best practices on your own projects.

Members are also invited to join us at Cornell Hemp Field Day in Geneva, NY, where university and industry leaders gather to share best practices and coordinate state-wide work groups. Current focus areas include retrofit insulation, textiles, animal bedding, erosion control matts, and product and service development.

Claiming a Digital County Executive seat
The founding Executive seat for the City carries a 2-year term. After that term, the local community determines the next leader through an election process built into the platform. To request leadership, your voting address must be in Kingston. Submit your request using the button below, then visit Voices for Progress, create an account, sign in, go to the Marketplace, and search 3,144 to access your municipal workspace and build the project to invite people to join.

Leadership for this initiative is intended for community leaders vs elected government officials. This is part of the terms and conditions under development.

Joining as a Project Manager gives you the ability to manage milestones, tasks, and documents for Kingston's adoption effort. Public Benefit Contracts govern the work — any tool, process, product, or service you contribute earns equity and cash flow for the duration of your agreement.

Already claimed?
If a seat is already claimed, contact the leader in place to discuss how you want to be involved. Once a team exists, anyone can find the Kingston project on Voices for Progress and request to join.
